Aled Davies - Managing Director

Aled's commercial experience began in the diamond industry where he worked mainly in the conflict zones of West and Central Africa. After raising private equity and negotiating diamond concessions with the Angolan government he set up his own mining operation exploring the rivers of Angola during the height of its civil war.

Aled learnt very quickly that personal resilience, an ability to resolve conflict and the knack of influencing others were fundamental to his business success and his survival. After encountering numerous situations that tested each of these to the edge, Aled returned to the UK to start on a new career path. On his return he had a brief spell advising and working on a number of huge box office films, including among others 007 Die Another Day!

Aled set up Resolve in 2003, incorporating in 2005 and has combined his own personal experiences along with more formal and professional training to help his clients and their people be the best they can be.

Alongside running Resolve, Aled leads the faculty of Mediation Assessment at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators where he coaches and assesses aspiring commercial mediators. Himself a professional Mediator, Aled mediates commercial disputes ranging from construction and insurance disputes to employment disputes upward of £1m claims.

He is also a patron of the Next Century Foundation, a political think tank originally set up to broker peace in the Middle East through track two diplomacy, the organisation now has a broader remit and works in other conflict zones around the globe. Aled is also a trustee of a community mediation charity based in West London.

Aled almost had a career in the media and was once asked to be a contestant on the Welsh Language TV version of Blind Date. Unfortunately he failed to progress past the preliminary stages, losing to a librarian from Newport and carpenter from Llanelli.
